Rainier Youth Choir’s final concert of the year, “Birds, Bees, Flowers and Trees,” is 3 p.m. Sunday, June 2 at Kent United Methodist Church, 11010 SE 248th St.
The concert showcases a wide variety of music sung by the three choirs, with several sure audience pleasers including Berlin’s “Blue Skies”, Davison’s arrangement of “Yellow Bird” for men, and “What a Wonderful World” made famous by Louis Armstrong.
Congratulations to 10 RYC graduates, who attend several local schools and sing in choir’s mixed voice high school and college age ensemble: Trevor Bygland, Cassidy Newell, Jonathan Sigrist, Ben Dunham, Shelbi Eller, Elizabeth Eaton, Hannah Frietag, Payton Lewis, Amara Reitz and Sarah Martin. Many have been singing together for six to eight years and share wonderful memories of travel, festivals, retreats and outstanding performances.
All three auditioned groups will perform during the concert.
RYC recently held a family-friendly Music Marathon fundraiser featuring a variety of musical skills the young members possess.
Tickets purchased in advance at www.RainierYouthChoirs.org are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors/students. Tickets also are available at the door for $15/$12.
Doors open at 2:30 p.m. for the concert.
Attendees also can bring non-perishable food donations for the Kent Food Bank.
