The Auburn Community and Event Center goes to the birds this weekend.
More than 20 parrot species from throughout the world will be on display at the center in Les Gove Park, 910 SE Ninth St.
Seattle Parrot Expo Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The show is free to the public. Please keep pets at home.
Watch parrots fly overhead, outside, free to do what parrots do – play in trees and show off for people. Parrots will roller skate, play basketball, perform tricks and, of course, talk.
Mayor Nancy Backus will join the opening ceremonies as four, free-flying macaws take off over the park.
More than 30 exhibitor spaces will be featured. There will be food and drink, face painting, a photo both, a live auction, crafts, educational and interactive exhibitions and other activities.
Learn from international, national and local experts about parrots at the indoor speaker’s stage. Talks will be ongoing both days, including a question-and-answer panel to ask anything about parrots.
The expo serves as a fundraiser to benefit the Flight Club Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire personal and environmental growth using parrots as ambassadors.
