Some of the area’s finest poets will perform during Sunday’s Uniquely Auburn celebration.
A cast of readers from the Striped Water Poets will read throughout the afternoon at the Auburn Performance Arts Center, 700 East Main St.
In the theater, Striped Water Poets will deliver sound poetry for the audience.
Scheduled to read are: Lana Hechtman Ayers, winner of the National Manuscript contest and the Snake Nation Press’ Violet Reed Haas award; R. D. Shadowbyrd; Maurice G. Whale; Mike O’Connell; Marjorie Rommel and Pacific Poet Laureate Gerald A. McBreen.
Sprinkled among the event’s art display will be Poetry on Posters. The sight poems are written by Striped Water Poets and other area writers, along with a showing from Auburn’s elementary schools.
After the theater, a community Mexican dinner will be served.
Audience interactive activities will be held in the lobby from 2-3 p.m. The show is set for 3-4 p.m., followed by the dinner.
The event is free, and canned/boxed food donations to the Auburn Food Bank will be collected.
