The Pop Offs to kick off Summer Sounds & Comcast Cinema series

The Summer Sounds & Comcast Cinema series premieres Friday with the classic rock music sound of The Pop Offs.

The Summer Sounds & Comcast Cinema series premieres Friday with the classic rock music sound of The Pop Offs.

The concert will be held at Sunset Park, 1306 69th St, SE. The Pop Offs will play from 7-8:30 p.m., followed by a screening of “Horton Hears A Who” (rated G) at dusk.

The Pop Off’s song list includes The Eagles, Neil Diamond, Elton John and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Other activities include free child ID kits, provided by Auburn’s King Solomon Lodge, free inflatable rides by Veritas Church and free kids’ crafts. Food concessions available for a nominal fee, provided by the Auburn Youth Council.

The series is being presented by the Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department and Comcast, with additional support from Pierce County and MultiCare.

• Friday, Aug. 28, Les Gove Park, 910 Ninth St. SE, concert – The rich and diverse ’60s, ’70s and early ’80s sounds of No Rules; movie – “Back to the Future” (PG).
