Johnny Cash was a country legend, considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. He may be gone, but his music lives on.

Tommy Cash, the youngest brother of the famed entertainer, keeps the legendary artist’s music alive with his Johnny Cash Tribute Show.

The show comes to the area for two performances – 7 p.m., Sept. 15, at the Auburn Performing Arts Center, 700 E. Main St., and 2 p.m., Sept. 16 at the IKEA Performing Arts Center, 400 S. 2nd St., Renton.

Tommy Cash performs about 25 of his brother’s hits.

Tommy Cash formed his first band while in high school and has been entwined with country music ever since.

Tommy played with Hank Williams, Jr. and has had a successful recording and performing career spanning more than 50 years.

In 1969 he recorded his biggest hit, “Six White Horses”. The next year he recorded two top-10 hits, “One Song Away” and “Rise and Shine”, both written by Carl Perkins. He has recorded 23 albums, and 18 of his singles have made it to the charts.

Of his brother Johnny, Tommy says, “I miss my brother more than words could ever say. He has always inspired me, and he was a loving brother and friend. His music will live on forever on its own merits. However, I am now doing a very special show.”

Opening for Tommy Cash will be Seattle’s own Convergence Zone performing country songs mixed with a little bluegrass. Lead female singer Sue Thompson will perform duets with Tommy Cash, including the ever popular Jackson and Daddy Sang Bass.
