For Connect2Classes CEO, Dallas Jasper, getting to experience a class from her own course marketplace was a welcome change from the office, but selecting a intro to welding course at the HazardFactory was downright intimidating.
She brought one of her team, Michael Duarte-Pedrosa, with her to do some bonding while learning a completely new skill together.
“You aren’t in a cubicle anymore when you attend Quick Intro to Welding,” said Michael. “Once arrived you are greeted by a landscape of nothing but metal with instructor Mckenzie waiting for your arrival to begin sharing her knowledge.”
“You jump right into the course by protecting yourself with safety gear and a discussion on welding, theory, safety and equipment. As the welding mask slides over your head, you realize that this is really going to happen — you are going to melt some metal!” Michael explained.
Their task for the night was assembling a three part welded souvenir to develop different welding skills under the watchful eye of the HazrdFactory’s expert instructors.
“The art of welding, for me, has always been a little mysterious and frankly, a little intimidating.” stated Michael. “The few hours we spent indulging in the trade at the HazardFactory was great team fun and demystified it for me. I now feel I have enough knowledge to do it again on my own, the welds may not be pretty but I could do it! I cannot wait to go back for more.”
The feeling of accomplishment once a project is finished is incredibly powerful. Having something that you physically created after just learning is very empowering and you feel like you’ve accomplishment alot. Surprisingly, the welding workshops are suitable for adults and children; they recently hosted an 8-year-old birthday party that created a metal pterodactyl sculpture.
