A 14-year-old Milton boy died from injuries he suffered as the result of an ATV accident on Sunday, King County Sheriff Deputies reported.
The boy had been riding with a group of friends near Auburn and was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Sheriff deputies responded to a report of an ATV accident on private property, in the 34200 block of 141st Place SE, in unincorporated King County near Auburn, shortly before 8 p.m.
Local area fire, EMS and technical rescue crews were already on scene and had been led to the victim by friends and family. Their efforts to revive the victim were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no witnesses to the accident. King County Sheriff Major Accident Response Reconstruction (MARR) Detectives were called to the scene to investigate the circumstances that led up to this accident.
Deputies and detectives were told by people on scene, that throughout the day, the victim had been riding ATVs on the property with a group of friends and family that had gathered for a barbecue. After not hearing from the victim for an unknown, extended period of time, some in the group went out to look for him.
Eventually, the victim’s friends and family were able to locate his crashed ATV off of a steep, brush, rock and tree-filled ravine. Not far from the ATV, they found the victim.
It is unknown how long after the actual accident occurred that the victim was located by friends and family. The victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The victim was turned over to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. The exact cause of death is not known at this time.
