17 firefighters prepare to graduate from academy

State Fire Marshal Charles M. Duffy announced that 17 firefighters, including a pair from the Valley Regional Fire Authority, are preparing to graduate from the Washington State Patrol Fire Training Academy in North Bend.

State Fire Marshal Charles M. Duffy announced that 17 firefighters, including a pair from the Valley Regional Fire Authority, are preparing to graduate from the Washington State Patrol Fire Training Academy in North Bend.

Graduation ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. July 30, at the Carco Theater, 1717 Maple Valley Highway, Renton.

On May 6, 2010, 18 candidates started the 12-week program – 17 will attain International Fire Service Accreditation Congress certification for Firefighter I, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, and 16 recruits will attain the IFSAC Firefighter II certification.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is a Bureau of the Washington State Patrol, providing fire and life safety services to the citizens of Washington State including inspections of state licensed facilities, plan review of school construction projects, licensing of fire sprinkler contractors and pyrotechnic operators, training Washington State’s firefighters, and collecting emergency response data.
