2-vehicle crash in South Auburn injures both drivers, ties up traffic

A two-vehicle crash at the 3700 block of A Street Southeast in Auburn injured both drivers and tied up traffic for over an hour Wednesday morning, beginning at 7:14, the Valley Regional Fire Authority reported.

A flatbed truck appeared to have collided with a small pickup truck, causing the flatbed to catch fire. The driver of the flatbed, a male in his 50s, was able to escape his burning vehicle with only minor burns to his hand.

VRFA firefighters extinguished the fire, attended to the driver of the flatbed truck, as well as the driver of the pickup truck, a woman in her mid-20s. The woman was stabilized at the scene and transported to Auburn Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

When VRFA crews left the scene at 8:23 a.m., Auburn police were alternating traffic through the area in one lane only.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
