The R Street Southeast Utility Improvements Project will require closure of 21st Street Southeast from M Street Southeast to R Street Southeast from May 18-June 12 (weather permitting).

Accesses for residents and businesses within the project area will be maintained, but should expect delays. All through traffic will be required to use the detour route. (See map: http://www.auburnwa.gov/Assets/PW/AuburnWA/Docs/CP504A+Detour+Map.pdf.

The closure will allow for the demolition of the existing road and subgrade materials, installation of a new storm drainage system, sanitary sewer system and construction of a new asphalt pavement road. Concurrently with this closure the existing gas main will be replaced by Puget Sound Energy contractors.

The City has contracted with Interwest Development NW, Inc, to construct the project. Officials are dedicated to causing as little impact as possible; however, it is necessary to close the road to efficiently remove the existing road structure.
