Drivers should plan ahead for a full closure of eastbound State Route 18 in Auburn tonight, June 8, while crews grind and repave a short section of the road.

The road surface is deteriorating in several areas where SR 18 crosses over West Valley Highway. Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) maintenance crews will grind down and repave about 100 feet of the right lane. Both eastbound lanes must close to accommodate large construction vehicles including a grinder, asphalt trucks and a paving machine.

Closure information:

• Wednesday, June 8 – Eastbound SR 18 will close from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday at West Valley Highway.

• Drivers will exit to West Valley Highway and immediately re-enter SR 18 using the eastbound on-ramp.
