Four additional Accessible Voting Centers (AVCs) open today to help ensure that voters with disabilities are able to cast a private and independent ballot.
AVCs are at Bellevue City Hall, Green River Community College, North Seattle Community College and Seattle Union Station as well as election headquarters in Renton where the facility has been recently expanded.
All AVCs are open Saturday. Addresses and hours of operation are available on King County Elections’ website at www.kingcounty.gov/elections.
The Elections headquarters phone bank also is open Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Voters may call 206-296-VOTE (8683) for assistance
Voting by mail is the easiest and most accessible choice for many people. However, some voters have difficulty filling out mail ballots. Accessible voting centers provide voters the opportunity to vote privately and independently on touchscreen accessible voting units (AVUs). Accessible voting units also offer specialized equipment such as audio and large and high-contrast text options.
Accessible voting units are easy to use, and Elections staff are available to help voters.
These locations are open to all voters. Ballot drop boxes are also located at accessible voting centers for voters to securely return their mail ballot without the cost of postage.
Voters casting a ballot at an accessible voting center must either show a photo ID or sign a declaration. The signature on the declaration must match the signature in the voter registration record.
Ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday, Nov. 6 or returned to a drop-box or Accessible Voting Center by 8 p.m. Nov. 6.
