The Auburn Angels – a group of community volunteers – held their third annual “Morning of Giving” breakfast at White River Presbyterian Church last Saturday.

The Angels rallied their efforts to collect donations and community support to provide a special holiday event for the homeless and less fortunate in the area. The Angels invited 150 people to the breakfast this year.

In addition to providing a home-cooked meal, the event featured local choirs performing, gifts and grocery bags filled with needed staple items for those in attendance, and photos with Santa. All of which was done through donations from local businesses, schools and volunteers.

Four local schools –

Auburn High School, Cascade and Rainier middle schools and Green River Montessori School – participated in the collection drive for staple items.

“Every year we seem to be growing in numbers and support,” said Barb Hansen, one of the leading volunteers behind the Angels’ efforts. “And with the tough economic situation in our area, we feel we will be able to reach out and help a lot more needy people this year.”

The Angels also help the South Sound Dream Center, an established charity that assists those without homes, basic needs and hope.
