AR student wins essay scholarship

The Washington State Association for Justice awarded an American Justice Essay Scholarship to Auburn Riverside High School senior Anthony Tordillos.

His essay, “Balancing Free Speech and Safety in an Age of Decreasing Reciprocity”, was rewarded with a $2,000 scholarship to the college of his choice. Established in 2000, the WSAJ American Justice Essay Scholarship is a statewide student essay scholarship program.

Scholarship recipients are chosen based on excellence in writing and eloquence in addressing the essay topic. This year’s essay topic was: “Rights groups opposed criminal charges against a “cyber bully” mother who harassed a teenager online, driving the girl to suicide. Discuss whether this case could have an impact on the civil justice system and the Constitutional free speech rights of U.S. citizens using the Internet.”
