Driver’s Edge: 8 a.m., 1 p.m. sessions, May 15-16, Emerald Downs, parking area. Free training for young drivers in an effort to combat the unacceptably high number of teen-related auto collisions and driving fatalities. Taught by driving professionals, the program combines behind the wheel and classroom experiences designed to alter young driver attitudes and behavior. Exercises include expert instruction on skid control, evasive lane changing, panic braking and combating unexpected situations. Memorial Day ceremony: 10 a.m., May 31, flag plaza, Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn, 2020 Mountain View Drive. Public is invited. The Cemetery is also offering special office hours during the Memorial Day weekend to assist families. More than 35 vendors offering a variety of fresh locally grown farmed based foods, hand-crafted items and concession stands that are restaurant based but feature a home-cooked taste. White River Chainsaw Carving Championships: July 9-11, Pacific City Park, 600 3rd Ave. SE, Pacific. A 12-person field will compete for cash and prizes.
