Ian Robbins’ “Auburn Sound Transit Station” is the winner of the Downtown Auburn Art Walk poster design contest, event organizers announced this week.

Robbins’ photograph will be featured on the 2015 event publicity materials.

His photo captures the quiet rails along the Auburn Station on a tempestuous winter day. Robbins captured the image on a blustery January afternoon while walking down Main Street.

The contest, coordinated in partnership with the Auburn Valley Creative Arts, called for artists to submit artwork for consideration. The artwork will be reproduced on the various posters, postcards and walking maps that are created for the May 8 walk.

“As an art event, we want the posters to be works of art, as well as celebrating the quality work of local artists,” said Don Westergaard, Art Walk chair.

Robbins arrived in 2006 from the sunny shores of Australia. He and his wife, Athena, settled in Sumner.

With a strong background in the coffee and tea industry, they operated their first retail facility on Auburn’s Main Street, Coffee Island Tea & Imports, until 2010.

Additional information on the event is available at www.auburnartwalk.com.

The Auburn Art Walk is presented by a volunteer board, including members of the Auburn Valley Creative Arts and the Auburn Downtown Association.
