Auburn Avenue Theater performances change venues

The theater is still closed due to concerns about the building’s structural integrity.

While the fate of the Auburn Avenue Theater is still unknown, that isn’t getting in the way of performing arts in Auburn.

On Feb. 5, the premier tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival with Randy Linder is performing at the Green River Community College Cascade Hall at 7:30 p.m. Linder and his band won Auburn’s 2020 Best of the Pacific Northwest Quarantine Contest, and they are well known for their covers of Creedence Clearwater Revival classics.

Later this month, Matt Baker is returning to Auburn to perform his Comedy Stunt Show for AveKids at 2 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Les Gove Park Gymnasium. Baker has been voted Seattle’s funniest alternative comic and holds three Guinness World Records, according to the City of Auburn.

Live performances scheduled to take place at the Auburn Avenue Theater have been postponed or moved to different venues after the theater was “red-tagged” by code compliance.

After the demolition of the Max House Apartments next door, the city had a structural engineer inspect the theater on Jan. 4, 2022. Based on the engineer’s initial evaluation, all programs scheduled for the theater are canceled through mid-March.
