The Auburn boys basketball team slipped by Auburn Riverside 76-75 on Thursday, securing the No. 4 seed into the South Puget Sound League North 4A tournament.
The win earns the Trojans (9-6, 11-8) a game against the SPSL South 4A No. 4 Puyallup (8-8, 12-8) Tuesday at either Rogers or Auburn high schools, time yet to be determined.
The winner of that game earns the No. 7 seed into the West Central District III/Southwest District 4 tournament which begins Feb. 13. The loser is the No. 8 seed.
The Ravens (8-7, 11-8) finish as the No. 5 seed out of the SPSL North 4A and will face Emerald Ridge (7-8, 9-10) on
Tuesday, site and time yet to be determined. The winner earns the No. 8 seed into districts, with the loser going home.
Marquise Prater’s 24 points, nine rebounds and two assists led the Ravens on Thursday with Malik Williams, Rio Paul and Jason Momi all contributed 12 points apiece.
Derick Brown’s 24 points fueled the Ravens with Drew Wallin chipping in with 23 points and six rebounds. Derek White finished the game with 10 points and 8 rebounds and Joshua Turner had seven rebounds.
Kentridge (15-0, 20-0) snagged the SPSL North 4A conference title and will face Beamer (15-0, 16-2) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the ShoWare Center in Kent for the SPSL title and the No. 1 seed into districts.
ALSO: Auburn Mountainview secured the No. 3 seed out of the SPSL 3A on Thursday with a 60-36 win over Decatur. The Lions will begin SPSL/Seamount 3A sub-district tournament play on Wednesday against Enumclaw (9-0, 16-3), the first-place SPSL 3A champs. A win moves the Lions on to a contest Friday to determine the No. 1 and 2 seeds into the West Central District III/Southwest District 4 tournament, which begins Feb. 17. A loss relegates the team to a contest for the No. 3 and 4 seeds into districts.
