Auburn Food Bank to host “Empty Bowls” fundraiser

Those who donate will receive their pick of many different artisan crafted bowls.

On Friday, June 4, the Auburn Food Bank will host the “Empty Bowls” fundraiser event at the Grace Community Church on 1320 Auburn Way S.

One of the event’s organizers, Debbie Christian, allows folks to choose from many artisan crafted bowls made by home potters and pottery students around the community.

For a $20 suggested donation, community members can receive the bowl of their choice and a soup starter kit.

In normal years, Christian said, fresh soup would be made and distributed at the event, but to be in accordance with pandemic safety guidelines, soup starter kits will be given instead.

She said funds raised at the event will be used toward valuable community services the Auburn Food Bank provides, including food distribution and financial aid.

“Right now there are empty bowls in our community,” Christain said. “We are coming together to fill those bowls up.”
