The Auburn Food Bank won the Breast Diagnostic Center’s “Our Community. Your Choice.” Contest.
The food bank received the most votes on the contest’s website poll to earn the first-place prize, a $1,000 donation from Breast Diagnostic Center, a breast care center in Auburn and Federal Way.
The “See Ya Later” Foundation of Washington, the runner-up, received $500.
“As a business in Auburn and Federal Way, it’s our honor to give back to the people we serve,” said Dr. Mike Ulissey, of the Breast Diagnostic Center, which sponsored the event. “‘Our Community. Your Choice.’ is a fun and creative way to show local charities and organizations that we appreciate and support all they do here in South Puget Sound.
“All participating organizations were highly deserving and we congratulate them. We look forward to doing this again in the near future.”
The Auburn Food Bank is a volunteer-directed organization that provides food, referrals and emergency assistance to those in need.
“See Ya Later” is a nonprofit organization that encourages youth by offering a variety of day camps, annual college scholarships and provides support to families who are struggling with a medical crisis.
The contest, which ran from March to April, asked patients and friends to nominate their favorite organization or charity that served the people of South Puget Sound. Six finalists were named and the organization with the most votes received charitable contributions from the Breast Diagnostic Center.
