Auburn man, 63, dies in wrong-way crash

The collision happened just before 3 a.m. April 30 in Renton.

A 63-year-old Auburn man died as a result of a fatal two-vehicle collision in the early morning hours of April 30 in Renton.

Police filed a charge of vehicular homicide against a 35-year-old Tacoma man.

According to a news release from the Washington State Patrol, the 35-year-old driver traveled the wrong way, driving northbound on State Route 167 in the southbound lanes at Talbot Street at 2:50 a.m. He collided head-on with the 63-year-old man’s vehicle. The 63-year-old man died at the scene.

First responders transported the 35-year-old driver to Harborview Medical Center for injuries sustained in the incident.

According to the news release, the incident involved drugs or alcohol. The collision resulted in the roadway being blocked for four hours and 16 minutes.
