Auburn man gets five years for rape of child

A 22-year-old Auburn man has been sentenced to five years in a federal prison for raping a 5-year-old neighbor girl he was babysitting on the Upper Skagit Indian Reservation six years ago.

In U.S. District Court in Seattle in February, a jury convicted Douglas Michael Edwards of one count of aggravated sexual abuse.

Prosecutors say Edwards, a member of the Muckleshoot Tribe, was living on the Upper Skagit reservation in 2003 and was 16 at the time of the rape.
