Auburn Mountainview security officer Ken Elliott is the School Security Officer of the Year.

The Washington School Safety Organization (WSSO) selected Elliott for his dedication to the youth of Auburn Mountainview and his outreach work with the Black and Brown summit, which reaches numerous students, staff and community members.

The WSSO is a combined effort of D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) officers, school resource officers, school security officers and educators.

“It is what Mr. Elliott does behind the scenes that sets him apart from anyone else,” said Terri Herren, Auburn Mountainview principal. “He takes time to mentor students, reinforces the importance of education and shows genuine concern for their well-being.”
