Auburn Mountainview High School’s Stephanie Keagle was named Washington Journalism Education Association Adviser of the Year at the WJEA state  conference at Auburn Mountainview High School last Saturday.

Keagle was nominated by her students. She achieved certified journalism educator status from the Journalism Education Association. Keagle, in her fifth year at the school, was honored at the fall JEA/NSPA national convention in Kansas City, Mo. Journalism certification recognizes teachers who meet national standards of preparation to teach high school journalism classes and advise student media.

Nearly 400 students and teachers attended the annual WJEA state conference at Auburn Mountainview.

Judges awarded students for their work on superior, excellent and honorable mention marks. A total of 265 students from the state registered for the 13 on-the-spot contests.
