Auburn observed the 59th annual National Day of Prayer on May 6. A proclamation from Mayor Pete Lewis heralded the landmark day.
Eleven Auburn pastors led a public prayer event from noon to 1 p.m. in the Auburn City Hall plaza.
“National Day of Prayer is a powerful reminder of our need to unite before God regardless of cultural and denominational differences,” said NDP coordinator Marjorie Gordon, author of “Jumpstart to Power Prayers”. “This year’s theme, ‘For Such a Time as This’, is a reminder that our hope and security are in God. We are in days that would give way to despair if we were not a people who knew God was willing to hear and act in answer to our prayers.”
