Free natural yard care workshops are available to residents who live within the Auburn city limits.
Workshops run from 7 to 9 p.m. at Northwest Family Church, 3535 Auburn Way S.
Each workshop will randomly draw from the names of everyone present for natural yard care prizes. Enter for a chance to win the grand prize mulching mower. Registration deadline is April 12. To register, email your name, address and phone number to register@naturalyardcare.com or call 253-886-5047.

Topic: Garden Design & Growing Healthy Soil
Every beautiful landscape starts with good design. In his presentation, King County’s Doug Rice, landscape architect and co-host of “Yard Talk” on KCTV, shares professional advice and resources to get you started right. Lisa Taylor from Seattle Tilth discusses the importance of growing healthy soil. You’ll learn how to grow more attractive, robust plants by mulching, composting and top dressing.

Topic: Designing with Plants & Natural Pest Control
Greg Rabourn of King County and co-host of “Yard Talk” on KCTV, presents Designing with Plants, a segment about beautiful plants that will thrive in your yard’s soil and sun conditions. Dan Corum, Woodland Park Zoo’s compost/recycling coordinator, is passionate about soil restoration and shares healthy and natural approaches to gardening.

Topic: Edible Gardening & Natural Lawn Care
The final workshop begins with a presentation on Edible Gardening by Emily Bishton of Green Light Gardening. You’ll learn how to grow delicious and healthy fruits, vegetables and herbs, while avoiding common problems like plant disease. The series finishes with an informative presentation on Natural Lawn Care by Ladd Smith from In Harmony Sustainable Landscapes. He’ll discuss mulch mowing, slow-release fertilizers and other natural ways to grow a beautiful, healthy lawn.
