April 17

Forgery: 2:14 p.m., 3004 Auburn Way S. A vehicle theft dating to February came close to biting its victim again when a woman was spotted at an ATM trying to use the victim’s purloined bank card to access said victim’s bank account. Police know who that no-account person is and are forwarding charges of forgery and possession of stolen property to the prosecutor’s office.

Bike theft: 5 p.m., 23 A St. SW. Somebody reported the theft of a bicycle from the Sound Transit Center.

Shoplifting: 3:52 p.m., 12722 SE 312th St. Police busted a girl for shoplifting $9.32 worth of undisclosed food from the Market at Lea Hill then booked the kid into the King County Youth Service Center on a charge of theft and for having her name on a misdemeanor warrant.

Theft: 5 p.m., 762 Supermall Drive SW. Somebody reached into a shopping cart at Walmart and snatched a woman’s wallet. The wallet and its contents turned up later in the store’s parking lot, minus the thief.

Theft: Midnight, 1500 block of Hemlock Drive Southeast. Somebody stole jewelry from a home, and the home owner suspects she knows the thief that pinched the valuables.

April 19

Fugitive from justice: 9:24 a.m., 1575 R St. NE. The long arm of the law reached out to snap up two fugitives from justice.

ID theft: 12700 block of Southeast 312th Street. A woman complained that her mother had used her personal information to set up a Qwest phone account in 2009.

Theft: Overnight, 11800 block of Southeast 318th Place. A woman let a friend spend the night, and when she awoke her percoset was gone. The woman explained to police her suspicion that the absence of the pills may have been linked in some way to the proximity of the friend.

April 21

Theft: 11:29 a.m., 12 5th St. NW. A man grabbed his girlfriend’s purse and, with said girlfriend in furious hot pursuit, fled to his car to make good his getaway. Things got more complicated when the girlfriend, trying to stop her man, caught her sweatshift in his door handle as he took off. She wasn’t hurt.

Arson with occupant: 11:39 p.m., 3501 Auburn Way S. A homeowner woke up on his couch and saw flames just outside the window of his mobile home. On the porch by the front window the man found wood and a gasoline-soaked towel.

Burglary: Overnight, 1825 K St. SE. Unknown burglars broke into Olympic Middle School and tried without success to take a safe.
