Aug. 3

Arson: Overnight, 620 37th Street Southeast. Persons unknown tried to set fire to a storage container at Mt. Baker Middle School, but the damage was minimal.

Bike theft: 3:55 p.m., 500 block of M Street Northeast. Somebody stole a bicycle from a home. Police did not disclose a value for the missing bike.

Theft from motor vehicle: 8:15 p.m., 1300 block of 71st Street Southeast. Somebody or several somebodies stole a GPS and undisclosed personal items from a vehicle. Police did not disclose a value for the items.

Vandalism: 11:44 p.m., 12401 SE 320th St. Police arrested two boys for vandalizing heavy construction equipment. One of the boys compounded his legal woes by possessing a dangerous weapon and marijuana.

Vandalism: 3:30 a.m., 2100 block of K Street Southeast. While preparing to go work at 6 a.m., a resident found a total of seven tires slashed on three vehicles in his or her driveway.

Aug. 4

Traffic collision, hit and run: 2:30 a.m., 200 block of 21st Place Southeast. During a frightful, frantic, booze-fueled altercation involving several drunken people, a man drove his vehicle in reverse, catching and pushing a bystander, injuring said bystander’s back, then fleeing.

Aug. 8

Theft: 2 p.m., 1275 Supermall Way. A woman forgot her purse in a shopping cart, and somebody appropriated it. Police did not disclose the value of the purse.

Shoplifting: 5 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. Police arrested two boys for trying to steal two sweatshirts from Zumiez at the SuperMall. Police did not disclose a value for the items.

Trespassing: 6 p.m., 1347 Auburn Way N. A man who police had told in no uncertain terms to stay away from Albertsons just didn’t listen, but he set his foot onto the parking lot, getting himself arrested and taken to the Auburn jail.

Agency assist: 8:15 p.m., 31400 block of 104th Avenue Southeast. A man wanted on a misdemeanor warrant tried to evade the long arm of the law by hiding in a wooded area, but a police dog nosed him out.

Aug. 9

Shoplifting: 12:23 a.m., 4010 A St. SE. Police arrested a man for shoplifting and for obstructing a police officer after the man fled from police and tried to hide in a drainage ditch.

Vandalism: 2:35 a.m., 1200 block of 30th Street Northeast. Somebody vandalized a vehicle with an unknown food substance and white powder.

Aug. 10

Burglary: 4:51 a.m., 4200 block of A Street Southeast. An employee of a local collision repair shop reported that bad guys broke into and damaged several vehicles in the shop’s parking lot. Employees found two of the vehicles in a locked, gated area of the property. All of the vehicles had sustained ignition damage, and two sowed driver’s door lock damage.
