Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Jan. 29 and Feb. 1:

Jan. 29

Vandalism: 10 p.m., 12401 SE 320th St. While a Green River Community College student was in class and studying, somebody damaged his vehicle.

Animal problem: 2:27 p.m., 3000 block of M Drive Northeast. Hearing cats screaming in a garage, a man opened his door, whereupon several felines in poor condition zipped out. Police are investigating.

Theft: 5:15 p.m., 23 A St. SW. Thieves hit a parking garage and stole spare tires from three different Jeep-type vehicles.

Escape: 4:56 p.m., 340 E. Main St. After receiving his 45-day sentence for assault and criminal contempt, a man fled an Auburn courtroom. Police searched the area but couldn’t find him. The man was to have begun serving his time right away.

Animal problem: 6 p.m., 900 block of 26th Place Northeast. When a dog bit a member of its human family, the dog’s owner, worried about its increasing aggression, asked that Auburn Animal Control take it away.

Credit card fraud: 3:36 a.m., 1269 Supermall Way SW. While a woman was working out in the Vision Quest gym at the Supermall, somebody stole her wallet then used her debit card at a local gas station.

Jan. 30

Burglary: overnight, 5015 Auburn Way N. Somebody burglarized the Red Barn.

Shoplifting: 7:18 p.m., 4010 A St. SE. Albertsons store security caught a would-be thief, a 13-year-old boy, trying to hide a bottle of rum under his clothes so he could walk off with it. The store gave him the boot and told him not to return.

Theft: 7:57 p.m., 1620 Lake Tapps Parkway SE. Thieves broke into a woman’s car and stole a lot of stuff.

Jan. 31

Theft: 2:09 a.m., 1300 block of 17th Street Northeast. While two thieves were busy in the early morning hours, stealing rims and tires off a vehicle, a neighbor looked out his window and realized what they were up to. He stepped outside, they ran off.

Feb. 1

Animal problem: 12:45 p.m., 1308 28th St. SE. A cat followed a student onto the Green River Community College campus and into a building. The college’s head of security put the cat inside her truck and called Auburn’s animal control officer, who impounded the cat and brought it to the Auburn animal shelter.

Theft: 10:40 a.m., 201 N. Division St, Suite A. A thief entered an employee break room, took an employee’s wallet and was gone before anybody noticed him.

Marijuana: 11:30 a.m., 601 Oravetz Road SE. Two Auburn Riverside High School students were found off campus with pot.

Animal problem: 12:45 p.m., 1300 block of 28th Street Southeast. Responding to a complaint about two white pomeranians in a backyard who shouldn’t have been there, Auburn’s animal control officer impounded two white, American eskimo dogs without ID and brought them to the animal shelter.

Animal problem: 6:56 p.m., 500 182nd Ave. E. A dog hit by a car was taken to the animal shelter.
