July 24

Theft of vehicle parts: 7 a.m., 300 block of 37th Street Northwest. Thieves swiped two travel trailer batteries from a recreational travel trailer. But when the bad guys tried to take the vehicle’s catalytic converter, they damaged its exhaust system.

July 25

Getting in the way: 11:12 a.m., 2200 Dogwood St. SE. A transient made such a nuisance of himself by blocking people from walking on a public sidewalk that police arrested him for disorderly conduct, then released him.

Vandalism: 12:13 p.m., 3700 block

of Auburn Way South. A 10-year-old boy damaged a vehicle in some unspecified way.

Theft: 12:47 p.m., 120 block of 2nd Street Southeast. An unknown person stole somebody’s fanny pack with the contents therein after the victim left it on the bar at a local watering hole. Police did not disclose a value for the loss.

Theft from building: 2:13 p.m., 1425 Supermall Way SW. Walmart store security caught a man shoplifting unspecified items. Police arrested the thief, but he immersed himself in more legal hot water by giving a false name and date of birth, so police provided him with an unfurnished suite in the Auburn jail.

Trespassing: 4:32 p.m., 10 Auburn Ave. NE. Police told a troublemaking man to get out of the Auburn Avenue Theater and stay out.

July 26

Vandalism: 1 a.m., 2300 block of M Street Southeast. Between July 23 and July 26, vandals unknown spray-painted graffiti on the walls of a portable school classroom and covered play shed.

Postal theft: 10:26 a.m., 1800 block of 35th Way Southeast. A woman reported the theft of mail overnight to her’s and her neighbor’s mailboxes and found mail belonging to a resident who lived on another street.

Fraud-Impersonation/ID Theft: Midnight, 2300 block of M Street Northeast. A woman told police she had been receiving letters from a collection agency requesting payment on a cellular phone account she had never opened.

Theft from building: 12:12 p.m., 700 block of 25th Street Southeast. Subjects unknown stole hanging flower baskets from somebody’s home. Police did not disclose a value.

Commercial burglary: 4:26 p.m., 43rd St. NE. Burglars struck a construction site between July 23 and July 26, stealing undisclosed items.

Trespassing: 7:10 p.m., 2400 block of Auburn Way South. Police arrested a man after he violated a stay-away notice from February of 2010 at the Muckleshoot Casino. Police cited and released him.
