Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between March 11 and March 14:
March 11
Shoplifting: 11:58, 101 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a girl after Safeway’s store security caught her trying to pocket some makeup items. Police later released her to her guardian.
Burglary: 8:25 a.m., 3125 B St. NW. Persons unknown cut a fence at a vacant business, stole copper wire from a junction box and made their getaway. Police didn’t disclose the value of the missing wire.
Burglary: 11:30 a.m., 1900 block of F Street Southeast. Persons unknown broke into two storage sheds and took two full cans of gas. No value was given.
Shoplifting: 1:30 p.m., 700 block of Supermall Drive Southwest. Store security at Walmart caught a young shoplifter in the act.
Burglary: 1:30 p.m., 3700 block of Auburn Way South. A homeowner reported that someone had entered a rear window of his house and stolen two revolvers and cash.
Fraud: 4:26 p.m., 1800 block of I Street Northeast. Somebody obtained the debit card information of an Auburn person and used it buy gas at a station in far-off Mississippi.
Shoplifting: 5:20 p.m., 762 Supermall Drive SW. Walmart store security caught a male shoplifting. Boy, teen, man? Police didn’t say.
Shoplifting: 5: p.m., 101 Auburn Way S. A man had tried and failed to steal a 30-pack of beer from Safeway, so police showed up to arrest him and book him into jail.
Theft: 9:56 p.m., 408 25th St. SE. A woman called to report that a male friend had stolen a cell phone and money order from her apartment. Police did not disclose a value for the missing items.
Stolen car: 9 p.m., 7100 block of Marshall Avenue SE. A vehicle stolen in a home-invasion robbery in Pierce County turned up in Auburn, with nobody inside.
March 12
Trespassing: 8 a.m., 2700 block of Auburn Way N. A man who had decided that a tent trailer at West Valley RV would make a sweet spot to lay his head at night probably should have checked with management first because management thought the arrangement was a stinker and called in the cops to remove him.
Theft and trespassing: 4:17 p.m., 701 A St. NE. Somebody stole an unknown amount of scrap metal from an open Dumpster in the parking lot of Ampac. Police did not disclose a value for the missing metal.
Animal problem: 5:15 p.m., 300 block of 4th Street Northeast. Somebody found a severely injured raccoon in an alleyway. Lacking any other reasonable alternative, police dispatched the animal to put it out of its misery.
Shoplifting: 9:12 p.m., 1702 Auburn Way N. Police arrested a girl for trying to shoplift an 18-pack of beer from Top Food and Drug.
March 13
Theft: 1 p.m., 2000 block of Fir Street Southeast. A woman called police to report that somebody had broken into her car and swiped numerous items, including a gym bag, prescriptions, a purse and an undisclosed wad of cash.
March 14
Weapons offense: 1:42 a.m., 2200 block of I Street Northeast. A woman told police that an unknown male who had been riding in the passenger seat of a red vehicle pointed a gun in her direction as the car slowly drove past her.
