Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between May 7 and May 9:
May 7
Theft: Overnight, 2000 block of M Street Northeast. Somebody swiped six mature African daisy plants from a flower pot. Police did not disclose a value for the missing plants.
May 8
Theft: 8:48 a.m., 700 block of Auburn Way South. Police arrested a man for stealing a laptop computer then followed up by booking the thief into the SCORE jail.
Recovered stolen vehicle: 10:15 a.m, 32400 block of 51st Avenue South. An unreported stolen vehicle, a 1994 Acura out of Federal Way, was recovered on an Auburn Street.
Theft: 12:44 a.m., 4710 Auburn Way N. The owner of an Auburn car dealership reported several checks stolen from his desk while he was away from work. Somebody then tried to cash one of the purloined checks in Orting, but bank authorities foiled the plan.
Warrant: 2:24 p.m., 500 Auburn Way S. Over-enthusiastic begging got two fellows arrested, the first being a catch and release, the second man landing in the SCORE Jail for being the star of his own warrant for having begged with an inappropriately heightened level of vim and verve.
Shoplifting: 9:57 p.m., 101 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a man for criminal trespassing and theft at Safeway.
Theft from motor vehicle: Overnight, 5600 block of Elizabeth Avenue Southeast. Thieves stole a GPS and several other undisclosed items of undisclosed worth from a car.
May 9
Warrant arrest: 5:50 p.m., 12700 block of Southeast 312th Street. Having three warrants out for his arrest, one for hit and run, another for malicious mischief, and yet another for 4th degree assault, turned out to be a real bummer for a man, despite the tiny room he was shown to in the SCORE Jail.
