Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between May 10 and May 14:
May 10
Shoplifting: 8 p.m., 1232 A St. NE. Some thief swiped two cordless drills from Lowe’s between April 27 and 30. Police did not disclose a value for the missing drills.
Theft: 10 p.m., 1500 block of 21st Street Southeast. A man reported bogus use of his bank account between March 30 and April 27
Shirt ripper: 6:43 a.m., 900 block of M Street Southeast. A man ripped his girlfriend’s shirt during an argument, getting himself arrested for it.
Theft from motor vehicle: 12:40 p.m., 2700 block of 19th Place Southeast. Persons unknown stole a checkbook from somebody’s vehicle.
Shoplifting: 1:11 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW, 1074. Police arrested a kid for swiping a pair of shades from Alley Kat Women’s Clothing.
Theft: Overnight, 31800 block of 52nd Avenue South. Somebody spent the night at another person’s house then returned the kindness by pocketing a number of items and skipping out in the morning.
Theft from motor vehicle: 10:58 p.m., 1400 block of 28th Street Southeast. Noting suspicious, car-related activity, that is, a broken window and an open door, a passerby called in the police, who found the car’s owner, who confirmed a theft.
Theft: 11:28 p.m., 2500 block of 24th Street Southeast. Somebody cut the lock off a trailer parked on a residential street and stole some undisclosed items.
Theft: 11:56 a.m., 1500 block of 21st Street Southeast. Another man reported suspicious activity going on in his bank account.
May 12
DUI alcohol or drugs: 6:48 a.m., 600 F St. SE. Having run a stop sign and collided with another vehicle, a man soon found himself under arrest.
Theft: 9:21 p.m., 2100 block of Auburn Way North. The owner of two DVDs, taking exception to someone keeping his films for more than a year after their due date, called in the authorities and reported said films as stolen.
May 13
Gulp and skedaddle: 1:25 a.m., 521 A St. SE. The guy ate the meal Denny’s servers put in front of him, but skipped out on the paying-for-it part.
Theft: 11:37 a.m., 3300 block of Scenic Drive Southeast. Somebody stole another’s garage door opener and other items undisclosed from an unlocked vehicle.
Shoplifting: 3:55 p.m., 762 Supermall Drive SW. Police arrested a woman for shoplifting cosmetics from Walmart.
Shoplifting: 4:30 p.m., 1519 Auburn Way S. Goodwill Industries took exception to a woman concealing shirts and a pair of flip-flops in her purse, so police arrested her.
Vandalism: 10 p.m., 2202 Auburn Way N. Whatever the prowler said when he discovered that the owner of the vehicle he had his eyes upon had slipped inside of it moments before to stop him went unrecorded. But the record shows that the prowler got scared and fled, stealing nothing, hurting nobody.
DUI: 10:19 p.m., 2402 Auburn Way S. A man sped into the valet area of the Muckleshoot Casino, nearly flattening two pedestrians. An officer talking to the driver about that, and noting the watery, bloodshot eyes, the unsteadiness of gait, and the whiff of booze in the air, arrested the man for driving under the influence.
May 14
Robbery with firearm: 2:27 a.m., 29100 block of 51st Avenue South. A shotgun-wielding male confronted three other males walking to one of their houses, robbed the trio and fled on foot. A K-9 track failed to turn up the robber.
Theft: Overnight, 1102 8th St. NE. A man told police that his roommate, whom he had allegedly assaulted the night before, stole his safe and the contents thereof, $2,500 in cash.
Purse theft: 8:52 p.m., 801 Auburn Way N. Somebody stole a woman’s purse from her shopping cart as she was loading groceries into her car on the Fred Meyer parking lot.
