Aug. 27

Theft: 6 a.m., 2117 Auburn Way S. A man and his wallet were having a good time at the Muckleshoot Bingo Hall until somebody swiped the wallet. Surveillance video did not reveal any theft activity.

Animal problem: 9:49 a.m., 1902 A St. SE. An Auburn resident moving out of the area found a stray, black-and-white, domestic, short-hair kitten. Auburn’s animal control officer impounded the wandering kitty and brought it to the Auburn Valley Humane Society (AVHS) for safe keeping.

Bad check: 10:31 a.m., 901 Auburn Way N. A customer tried to cash a check at Checkmate but employees told him the check was, bogus, fraudulent, no good, a fake. The customer admitted that he had received the check in the mail after responding to a job ad on Craigslist.

Burglary: 1:36 p.m., 420 H St. NW. Unknown suspects cut through a fence to get into a towing yard then stole a vehicle battery.

Theft of purse: 5:15 p.m., 1275 Supermall Way SW. Somebody stole a purse with a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver inside from a cart at Sam’s Club.

Aug. 28

Traffic collision, hit and run: 2:28 a.m., 601 25th St. SE. Police could not find the driver behind a hit and run that damaged three parked vehicles, but they found his or her car, and that they impounded.

Animal problem: 10:46 a.m., 301 Oravetz Place SE. A brown and white, female pit bull was spotted running loose on the Ilalko Elementary school grounds, a brown shoelace tied around its neck as a collar, without tags or microchip. Auburn’s animal control officer impounded the peregrinating pooch and took it to the AVHS for safekeeping.

Theft: Overnight, 12700 block of Southeast 312th Street. A man reported that thieves had broken into his vehicle overnight and stolen about $1,000 worth of fishing gear.

Vandalism: 4 p.m., 1300 block of 32nd Street Northeast. Vandals shattered someone’s sliding glass door

Aug. 29

Controlled substance: 12:15 a.m., 300 block of 15th Street Northeast. Police arrested somebody who had tried to buy heroin.

Disorderly conduct: 9 a.m., 900 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a man for disorderly conduct after they spotted him walking in the middle of Auburn Way South, blocking traffic.
