Auburn police are looking for a man who tried to lure a 10-year-old girl into his car Sunday afternoon near her home in the 29600 block of 124th Place Southeast.

According to police reports at about 2:15 p.m. a man in a dark blue sedan approached the child as she walking and said, “Come here.” This frightened the girl who then ran home.

Police checked the area but could not find the man, who is described only as having gray and brown hair.

“We have sent out a be-on-the-lookout report to officers in town to seeif anything valid matches our description in an attempt to identify the person responsible,” Near said.

Near added that the girl handled the situation perfectly.

“Basically, kids should do what this little girl did — don’t talk to strangers,” Near said.
