Auburn Police have identified a man of interest in the March 31 fatal shooting of a man at a boat repair shot.

Police identified the man as 31-year-old Danny Mendez in a Tuesday Facebook post.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact the Auburn Police tip line at 253-288-7403. The reference case number is 20-03567. Police said residents should not contact Mendez, but contact police with his whereabouts as soon as possible.

On Monday, police asked for the public’s help to find Tristan Thomas, a 31-year-old woman connected to the same case.

A man in his 50s died after he was shot during a reported robbery attempt at a boat repair shop in the 3500 block of C Street Northeast in Auburn.

Another man in his 50s was injured after he was assaulted with a gun. A truck pulled up outside the shop at about 9:40 p.m. A man entered the shop and demanded money. He then shot one man, who died at the scene, and assaulted the second man, according to police.

Police have not made any arrests in the case.
