The City of Auburn Emergency Management is recruiting for two AmeriCorps VISTA ReadyCorps members to provide Community Disaster Education in the cities of Algona, Auburn and Pacific.
Members must commit to a term of service beginning Aug. 29, 2011 and ending Aug. 31, 2012.
Members must be able to meet the following requirements:
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Not have any outside employment (some volunteer work is OK)
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or experience in education or training is preferred
• Be available to work full-time Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., plus some weekends and evenings
• Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Must not have a criminal record
• Provide own transportation to and from primary work site in downtown Auburn, during hours that public transportation may not be available
Members receive the following benefits:
• Living stipend of approximately $1,017 per month
• Health insurance
• Life insurance
• Childcare assistance
• 10 days of personal leave and 10 days of sick leave during the term
• Choice of $5,350 (approximate) education award or $1,500 cash (approximate) stipend after successfully completing term of service
• Relocation allowance if moving more than 50 miles to serve
Student loan forbearance or deferment during service period
• One year of non-competitive status for federal government jobs upon completion of term of service
