Auburn Riverside softball grabs No. 3 seed into Washington State 4A championship tournament

After losing twice during the regular season to South Puget Sound League North champion Kentwood, the Auburn Riverside fastpitch squad came up big against their league foes in the West Central District III tournament this past weekend, beating the Conquerors 8-2 in the third-place game.

The win earns the Ravens the No. 3 seed out of the WCD tourney into the Washington State 4A championship tourney which gets underway this Friday at SERA Fields in Tacoma. The Ravens will play Lake Washington at 11 a.m.

The Ravens opened up the district tourney with a 1-0 win over Bellarmine prep and defeated Stadium 4-0 the same day to advance to day two of the tourney. A loss to Central Kitsap, 4-0, set up the team’s third-place game against Kentwood.

ALSO: The Auburn Mountainview fastpitch team failed to move out of the West Central District 3A tourney, going 1-2.

The Lions opened up their tournament with a 4-3 loss to Port Angeles.

The squad rebounded with a 9-1 win over White River. The team spread the scoring around with Andrea Fletcher earning two RBIs and Carin Bell, Deanna Colburn, Amanda Colella, Kristin Herren and Kelley Voss earning an RBI each. Herren earned the win on the mound.

In their final contest the Lions fell 5-4 to Capital.

Auburn Mountainview finishes the season with a 12-12 overall record.
