Symone Bolden, a freshman from Auburn Riverside High School, recently spent a week working as a page for the state Senate at the Capitol in Olympia.

Symone was one of 30 students who served as Senate pages for the ninth week of the 2016 legislative session.

She was sponsored by 30th Legislative District Sen. Mark Miloscia.

“Symone did a great job in her role as page for this hectic week of our session. I’m glad she got such a unique perspective of the legislative process,” said Miloscia, R-Federal Way.

The Senate Page Program is an opportunity for Washington students to spend a week working in the Legislature. Students are responsible for transporting documents between offices, as well as delivering messages and mail.

Pages spend time in the Senate chamber and attend page school to learn about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process. Students also draft their own bills and engage in a mock session.

“If you have any interest in politics, you should try this out,” Symone said.

Symone enjoys playing basketball, participating in track and learning about robotics.

Symone, 14, is the daughter of Monica Bolden of Auburn.
