The Auburn School District Board of Directors recognized Marla King, a second-grade teacher at Lakeland Hills Elementary, as the outstanding staff member of the month at its March 12 board meeting.
King has spent her entire 22-year teaching career in the Auburn School District and has a knack for connecting with and engaging student.
“Teaching is fun. I just like hanging out with the kids,” she said.
Lakeland Hills Principal Colleen Barlow added: “Marla is relentless when it comes to student success.”
The school board also recognized Angelina Vacca, a fifth-grader at Arthur Jacobsen Elementary, as the outstanding student of the month.
Vacca, who has attended Arthur Jacobsen since kindergarten, is an exemplary student. She plays in the orchestra, serves on student council, is in Honor Society and participates in art club.
“She is compassionate towards others,” said her teacher, Jessica Mack, “and has a bright future ahead of her doing whatever she puts her mind to.”
