The Auburn School District Board of Directors recognized Joe Wiles, para educator at Alpac Elementary as the outstanding staff member for November.
Wiles has worked for the district for six years. He works with students with special needs, is the building technology coordinator and oversees Alpac’s Safety Patrol program.
Principal Jim Riley said, ““Mr. Joe goes above and beyond in all he does for the students and staff. He listens to students and continually builds relationships. He is truly an asset to the Alpac community.”
Wiles is an Auburn High School graduate.
The school board also recognized Alec Acosta-Vega, a senior at Auburn High School, for being an outstanding student at the November 12 board meeting.
Acosta-Vega is a dedicated, enthusiastic student who pours himself into his passions, primarily robotics and journalism. He has represented Auburn High in robotics and journalism competitions at the local, state and national levels. He also pushes himself academically, taking Advanced Placement classes and maintaining a rigorous course load in addition to his busy extracurricular schedule.
Upon graduation in June, he will be the third in his family to graduate from Auburn High.
