The Auburn School District Board of Directors will recognize Tanya Cicero, a fourth-grade teacher at Alpac Elementary, for her outstanding service at 7 p.m. Monday in the James P. Fugate Administration building.

Cicero is in her 15th year as a teacher at Alpac, teaching fourth grade just about every year. She enjoys fourth grade because students become more abstract thinkers at that age.

In addition to teaching, she also has been the building technology coordinator at Alpac for the last eight years and this year became the instructional technology support specialist.

“Not only is she an outstanding teacher, she is self-less when it comes to helping people with anything,” said co-worker Suzan Chipps-Freeman. “Tanya’s leadership in our building is a significant strength.”

The school board also will recognize Titus Rambo, a fifth-grader at Gildo Rey Elementary, for being an outstanding student on Monday.

According to Gildo Rey staff, Rambo is an incredible kid. He excels at everything academically, is eager to learn and driven to become even better. He always is the first student to help other students or the teacher. He is a humble leader and his peers look up to him.

Rambo enjoys basketball, volleyball, track and soccer. He also likes to draw and read. Science is his favorite subject.

His future plans include obtaining a master’s degree in teaching and becoming a teacher, a chef and then a basketball player.

“During seven years of teaching, I haven’t met a kid quite like Titus. With his drive and natural gifts, he is going to do big things,” said Rambo’s teacher, Tyler Sandland.
