The Auburn School District Board of Directors will recognize Ann Gilbert, office manager at Dick Scobee Elementary, for her outstanding service at 7 p.m. Monday in the board room at the James P. Fugate Administration Building.

Gilbert grew up in Auburn and attended Pioneer Elementary, Olympic Junior High and graduated from Auburn High School. She began her school district career 21 years ago in capital projects and then transferred to the curriculum and instruction department, supporting career and technical education. She then became the office manager at Dick Scobee, where she has been for the past 13 years.

Gilbert views her colleagues at Dick Scobee as one big, supportive family.

“Customer service is my goal,” she said. “I am here to support the students and staff.”

Principal Adam Couch added: “The success of Dick Scobee can in much part be attributed to the work Mrs. Gilbert does on behalf of the students, staff and families of Dick Scobee.”

Gilbert said she loves the kids at Dick Scobee and she works to provide a stable environment for all students.

“Sometimes they just need a hug,” she said.

Couch highlights Ann’s customer service, fiscal and resource management, social work, direct student support, technical skills and her willingness to lend support to anyone in need in her role as office manager.

Prior to her career in Auburn, Gilbert worked in the private sector as a receptionist and administrative assistant.

In her off time, Gilbert spends a lot of time with her own children, Mikala, 11, and Tyler, 17. She is busy with fastpitch softball and her son’s involvement in the Civil Air Patrol. She has been married to Jeff for almost 23 years. The family enjoys vacations to Disneyland and Clydehurst Christian Ranch in Montana.
