Auburn senior tips over on motorized scooter | Fire blotter

From the Valley Regional Fire Authority.

Between Dec. 23 and Dec. 29, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the following calls for service, among many others.

Dec. 23

Accident: 5:57 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a motor-vehicle accident on eastbound SR 18 at Weyerhaeuser Way South and found three vehicles involved in a rear-end collision. Firefighters assessed three patients, treated them on scene, and transported them to St. Francis Hospital for further evaluation.

Dec. 24

Accident: 2:52 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a multi-vehicle collision involving two passenger cars and a pickup truck, triaged the occupants of all three vehicles, and identified two with minor injuries. The two people declined transportation to a hospital, stating their injuries did not require further treatment there.

Dec. 25

Aid call: 7:25 p.m. (Lea Hill). Firefighters responded to an 11-month-old baby suffering a possible allergic reaction to food. On arrival, firefighters assessed the girl and determined she had probably choked temporarily on the food rather than experiencing an allergic reaction. The parents chose to monitor her at home, but planned to transport her via their own vehicle if needed.

Dec. 26

Accident: 9:23 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a two-vehicle collision on 8th Street Northeast east of M Street Northeast, found one driver in cardiac arrest, who, despite resuscitation efforts by Auburn police, firefighters and King County Medic One, was pronounced dead. The other driver was treated on scene and transported to a local hospital. Auburn Police are investigating the incident.

Aid call: 2:06 p.m. (Pacific). Firefighters evaluated an Auburn senior citizen who had tipped over on his motorized scooter, and a private ambulance transported him to Good Samaritan Hospital for further care.

Dec. 27

Aid call: 9:56 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters treated a woman who was complaining of sudden aphasia and a severe headache, possible signs of a hemorrhagic stroke. After King County Medic One paramedics arrived to provide additional care, they transported the woman to Valley Medical Center for further treatment.

Dec. 28

Accident: (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responding to a two-vehicle collision on Lake Tapps Parkway Southeast treated one occupant with a hand injury before his daughter transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center. The other occupant was uninjured. Auburn Police are investigating the cause.

Dec. 29

Overdose: 2:43 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a welfare check for a person down on the ground and found the person had overdosed. Firefighters administered Naloxone per King County Department of Health policy, and, once alert, the person declined further evaluation or transportation to a hospital.
