The Auburn Skate Connection is hosting a benefit for victims of earthquake-ravished Haiti.

Skate for Haiti will be held 6-8 p.m. March 3 at the center, located at 1825 Howard Road.

Admission is $5 with a $1.50 skate rental or $3 inline rental. Proceeds will go directly to God’s Chosen Ones Ministry to help buy medical supplies and other necessities.

The ministry is coordinating short-term mission teams of doctors, nurses, construction workers and other specialists to assist in the recovery efforts. The teams plan to travel to Haiti on a weekly basis for the entire year, an effort that began Feb. 1.

“I used to be a missionary in Haiti close to 10 years ago. Since then, I have always had a heart for Haiti and I have friends who have organizations still in Haiti,” said Dianne Ladine, who is coordinating the benefit.
