For the Reporter

Auburn Soroptimists invite the public to celebrate 20 years of community fundraising at its Feb. 8 Cupid’s Caper at the Meridian Valley Country Club, 24830 136th Ave SE, Kent.

The program, themed Cupid Goes Platinum, celebrating 20 years of Cupid’s Caper, runs from 6:30 to 11 p.m.

The fundraiser supports struggling women and their families through the Shelter for Sisters and Women’s Opportunity Award programs. Both efforts seek to help women and children facing challenges such as homelessness, serious illness and domestic violence.

Shelter for Sisters provides crisis help to women who need a one-time donation to get into secure housing or relocate away from an abusive situation. The Women’s Opportunity Award provides scholarship money to women heads of household who have overcome a life challenge and are pursuing a career to provide for their families.

Soroptimist of Auburn is looking for businesses and individuals to raise funds through a variety of opportunities: purchase a $65 ticket and attend Cupids Caper, donate an item to the silent auction, or sponsor the event with a cash donation or matching grant up to $10,000.

You can purchase tickets or arrange to make a donation by contacting event chair, Sarah Miller at sarah@beeze.com or 253-293-5781.
