The Auburn arts community is putting itself on display May 13-14 with its inaugural Downtown Art Walk.

The walk and art display will be open to the public from 4-9 p.m., Friday, May 13, and from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, May 14 along Main Street.

The two-day free event will feature local artists who will display their artwork and provide demonstrations in businesses throughout the downtown core. Both days will be full of art activities for all ages, music and performances as well as wine tasting with local wineries.

A walking map will be distributed for attendees to navigate the many happenings throughout the event.

“We are thrilled that community and artists have come together to plan this event in celebration of the arts,” said Maija McKnight, arts coordinator for the City of Auburn.

To date, 20 downtown businesses are participating.

Artists who are participating will be announced in mid-April and their artwork will be displayed in the various businesses locations and at the event for questions and conversation.

The Auburn Valley Creative Arts, The Auburn Downtown Association, City of Auburn as well as many artists and community members have organized the event and plan to make it a biannual tradition.
