The 2010 Local Street Pavement Preservation project is scheduled to begin the second phase of construction activities on 1st Street Northeast between Auburn Way North and Auburn Avenue on Wednesday.

During construction it will be necessary to close 1st Street Northeast to all eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will be limited to local access only and traffic will only be able to make a right turn at the Auburn Avenue intersection. Detour routes will be clearly posted.

Construction is expected to take two weeks to complete, weather dependent.

Access to all businesses on 1st Street Northeast will be maintained during construction.

Metro transit will temporarily relocate their bus stop on 1st Street Northeast and reroute their buses during construction.

This phase of construction will replace many of the cement concrete pavement panels in the middle and on the south side of the street.
