The professional truck driver from Auburn has been working a lot of hours lately, but recently he learned that he might receive a well-earned break.

After buying a Washington’s Lottery $1,000,000 Bankroll Scratch ticket, he’s suddenly a millionaire.

“I’m pretty excited. A little shocked, but this is really exciting,” said Zimmer when he claimed his winnings at the Lottery’s Federal Way Regional Office.

Zimmer had been thinking about his winning ticket for a few days. He bought his ticket just prior to going out of town on vacation and had not had time to claim the winnings yet.

“Until I had the check in my hand, it just didn’t seem real,” Zimmer said.

He doesn’t have many plans for the money yet, but family clearly comes first for Zimmer.

“Just knowing my kids are going to be taken care of and go to college is enough to make me really happy,” he said, adding that his next step would be to talk with a financial advisor about his unexpected financial situation.

Zimmer purchased his ticket at the Safeway located at 900 Meridian East in Milton.

It was the first of two $1 million top prizes in the game; one $1 million prize remains.
