On Feb. 13, the Auburn School District will ask voters within the district to approve Proposition 1, which would replace the existing educational programs and operations levy that is about to expire.

Voter approval of Proposition 1 would allow the levy of $51.842 million in property taxes within the Auburn School District for collection in 2025; $55.434 million for collection in 2026; $57.156 million for collection in 2027; and $60.013 million for 2028.

The district will use the money to fund educational programs that the state does not fund fully or at all, including all athletics and activities.

Passage would likewise fund school room officers, family engagement, school psychologists, health techs and nurses, and special educational programs, including staffing and specialized support for students, according to the district.

If voters say yes, based on projected assessed valuation information, the estimated levy rates per $1,000 of assessed valuation would be $2.50 per $1,000 for each year from 2025 to 2028.

The community is invited to attend an upcoming presentation about the Educational Programs and Operations Replacement Levy that will be on the Feb 13 ballot. District staff will provide an overview and answer questions about the upcoming levy.

The presentations run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 10 in the Terminal Park Elementary library at 1101 D St. SE, Auburn, and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 17 in the Lea Hill Elementary library, 30908 124th Avenue SE.
